It is suitable for automatic and semi-automatic mechanical and manual operation, long-term large-scale production with large strength, and more suitable for the requirements of flexible manufacturing than other welding materials. Therefore, flux cored wire is suitable for all welding materials The widest range of materials to be welded. In the world, flux cored wire is developing rapidly in every country.

1. Foreign market trends

Foreign countries with rapid development of flux cored wire are mainly the United States, Japan, South Korea and some European countries (Germany, Britain, France, Sweden, Norway, etc.). At present, the proportion of flux cored wire in welding materials in the United States has reached 35%, the proportion of flux cored wire in Japan has reached 36%, and that in some European countries (Germany, Britain, France, Sweden, Norway, etc.) has reached more than 20%. The proportion of welding materials (welding rod, welding wire, flux, etc.) in developed countries is generally: welding wire (solid core wire, flux cored wire) accounts for more than 65%, submerged arc welding materials (flux, welding wire) accounts for about 12%, and welding rod accounts for less than 25%. The proportion of flux cored wire in welding materials in China is only 15%.

The most significant reference for the development of FCW in China is the development of FCW in Japan.

It can be seen from Fig. 5 that the proportion of welding rods in Japanese welding materials is declining, solid cored wire is rising and declining, and flux cored wire is steadily rising year by year. In the 21st century, there are many similarities between the evolution and development speed of China's industrial structure and Japan's rapid economic development. Considering the annual growth rate (20% - 25%) of domestic flux cored wire usage from 1996 to 2008, the capacity of flux cored wire production technology bottleneck breakthrough in China and the continuous improvement of the acceptance of flux cored wire in various industries, it is expected that the domestic flux cored wire usage will increase by 30% every year.

Prediction of production and application development of flux cored wire in China

The popularization of flux cored wire in China is the same as that in Japan, and it starts from the shipbuilding industry. China's shipbuilding system has proposed that the welding efficiency of major shipyards should reach more than 80% by 2009, of which the application rate of CO2 gas shielded welding reaches 55%, and the welding mechanization and automation rate reaches about 70%.

After the promotion of efficient welding technology, the shipbuilding industry has used flux cored wire gas shielded welding and submerged arc welding technology in the whole industry. It is expected that China's shipbuilding industry will continue to grow in recent years, with an annual growth rate higher than 30%,

2.1. Continuous expansion of application field of flux cored wire

There are two expansion trends in the application field of flux cored wire: first, it extends from shipbuilding industry to ocean engineering, machinery manufacturing, construction and bridge, steel structure, boiler storage tank and other fields; second, it expands from large enterprises to medium and small enterprises.

2.2. Industrial structure adjustment and continuous promotion of efficient welding

In the adjustment of China's industrial structure, ship ocean structure industry, petroleum chemical industry, construction bridge industry, boiler spherical tank industry, vehicle automobile industry, industrial machinery electrical machinery industry all belong to key supporting industries, which need a lot of welding materials every year. In these industries, high-efficiency welding technology is being vigorously promoted, which provides a huge development space for flux cored wire as a high-efficiency welding material and guarantees the continuous growth of flux cored wire usage. In addition, from the perspective of the use trend of welding materials in Japan, flux cored wire is first applied in shipbuilding industry, accounting for 70% in ship and offshore structures, 40% in construction and Bridge industries, and more than 60% in the whole industry on average. Due to the increase of welding wire, high efficiency, automatic and robotic welding have been developed rapidly.

In recent years, with the development of welding automation, intelligence and semi automation, the flux cored wire has expanded from scale to variety. The output of flux cored wire for MAG welding (CO2 gas shielded welding) is increasing rapidly year by year. At present, in addition to the general low-carbon steel 500MPa grade high-strength steel, various flux cored wires targeting at low-temperature steel, high-strength steel, stainless steel and other multi steel grades have been produced. It can be imagined that the future welding materials are called "flux"
